Hi everyone -
I'm excited to announce that our Avid Reader Book Club pick for June is Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go.
Here’s a quick summary:
Whether you classify Kazuo Ishiguro's latest as science fiction, romance or memoir, it's destined to be a classic. Shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize in 2005, Never Let Me Go is as heart-breaking, suspenseful and emotional as Remains of the Day. Kathy, the narrator, recalls her childhood at the prestigious boarding school Hailsham with friends Ruth and Tommy. She tells how lucky they were to attend the school, and how good she is at her job now as a "carer." It's not until Kathy meets Ruth and Tommy again as an adult that the secrets of life at Hailsham begin to unravel.
Check out our Book Club page, which includes a Reading Schedule and Guide.
We're also giving away two one-year subscriptions to LibraryThing.com, where you can show off your library, look through other peoples', post reviews, and get recommendations.
Start posting your thoughts here about the book now, but if you've already read it, try not to give the plot away!
I look forward to chatting with everyone about this wonderful book soon.
Thanks!
-Jennifer
