Oddly enough, I find this quite amusing.

I was sick most of the night. We've been running around getting everything taken care of and it finally caught up to me.

Wow, I am sorry to hear taht she is so poorly, but glad to hear that she has such spirit and is taking it so well.

I do also appreciate my mum more and more, but I don't think I have ever been really horrible to her, just a bit of a trial from time to time when I was younger I'm sure.

Yow. I guess after all the weddings, stork teas are naturally going to follow...

Here it's just starting to feel autumn-ish...my favorite time of year, perhaps (though spring is also lovely)...cool enough to wear cardies, but seldom really what you'd call cold...

We had the memorial service for my friend's wife today (she was 78).  Last week after the visitation at the funeral home, Lizzie and I went out to dinner with another old friend who lost his wife a little over a year ago to complications of MS.  He was sharing with me that grief was like standing in the edge of the ocean facing the beach - little waves would wash up against him and subside, but every now and then a big one would sneak up on him from behind and break over him and overwhelm him.  I shared that over lunch this week with my friend who just lost his wife.  Today at her memorial service we sang, "It Is Well With My Soul".  The second line of the first verse is: "when sorrows like sea billows roll...".  At that, he broke down and wept.  Afterwards I said to him, "So you know what that really means now, don't you?".  He replied, "I thought I did before, but now I really do".

It hurts to see a dear friend go through this trial, but we can only walk so far with them.  I loaned him C.S. Lewis's excellent little book, "A Grief Observed" which he wrote upon losing his wife.  It's very good - I commend it to you as you struggle with the loss of your Dad.  I hope you are doing ok.

But that's just it! How do you know the one you're after isn't really the one on the left? or even worse, the image you saw over your shoulder that you were certain was just a drunken hallucination?
Just for consideration.

Thanks, the methods of travel are a good starting point. Thats just what I intend to do. Make a list of what I would like to see, have a look at the distances and the best ways of getting to both. We will only have about 2 1/2 days in New York, but I recon we can see a lot in that time if we plan it correctly.

Hmmm, I must have a look at the dates :))

I didn't do much this weekend. Friday night when out to some drinks with a few friends. Saturday spent at home, just chilling, read a bit, slept a bit, watched a bit of TV, played with the dog. Sunday was spent working and of course this morning I started working at 4, so no surprises there.

I think it is going to be a bit of a tough time until the network freeze which only starts on 15 dec

Yes yes, finally getting a chance to go there next year. I really can't wait, it will probably be my one and only chance in this life to see New York. I am pretty stoked about the whole idea.

Indeed, last year I had 6 stork teas. This year seven weddings, 7th coming up the 28th of November. That one is a kitchen tea/stork tea all rolled into one. Next year will be the year of the stork then yet again. No getting out of it.

It's hot this side, nice and summer, I love it. We have had some rain, so it's mostly clean fresh air.
