Have you read it? We used to have a copy (a tiny book with large print), but it got lost in one of our various moves. Thank goodness it can still be read on Gutenberg.

I think you've got that right. He probably considered "Ho!" to be slang, but useful as giving the common touch to a book on the west. The other he would have considered vulgar and would have gotten his manuscript returned with a rejection slip. How our language and its usage has changed in just a few generations. Not for the better in my opinion, though the younger Forumites may consider me hopelessly old fashioned.
