Everyone feels better with freshly washed hair. It's a law. And no, I hadn't, but I'll nip over there now and have a look..

Although if you know what it means to actually SEE a Cinnabar Sky, then I think it's even more evocative. Sometimes that doesn't work though, as sometimes it sounds better if you DON'T know what something means. (dang! I wish there was text editing on these messages!) |

Hello. Hi. Yoohoo. Hail. Greetings. G'day. Wotcha. You know it's amazing how hard it is to find other greeting words. The online Roget's is rubbish, and even my printed one (which I was SO happy to find at the Uni the other day) makes it hard to find anything. According to QI Hallo is a hunting cry and should really be Halloo, Hello just doesn't exist at all. It was in fact invented by .... by.... was it Bell or Edison? - it's one of the trick questions in QI anyway - but was the very first word spoken on the very first telephone.

Umm...I see it, but I don't know how I could add anything to a programme like that. YOU could, 'cos you're an expert, but what would I say to them? Angel is good, Spike is better, and I want to punch Edward Sparklepants?

Well, they do it at Forks High School, apparently - and that's a good enough reason for them to do it at Cross High School too.

A-thang-you. But it's only the first draft. After another week I have to dig it back out again and actually make it readable. I've got the week off work specially.

The School Library Journal probably won't even think it's THAT. But to be honest, I'm having such a jolly time writing it that I don't care. It's the first time I've ever tried to write something funny, and it's making such a difference to my mood, I can't even tell you. If I feel a bit down, I get out my notebook, and one hour and six pages later, I'm on top of the world again.

By the way, I wrote that incredibly cheesy pop song for the book. In my head it (sort of) sounds a little bit like 'Hot Blooded' by Foreigner (for obvious reasons) and it is BAAAAD. So bad, that I have decided to share it with everyone so that you can all laugh too. Suggestions on making it WORSE welcome. But don't be taking a sip of tea while reading the last line. WHY? (clap hands) WHY? (clap hands) WHY? (Clap hands) Baaaaaby! Oh, baby why are you so cold to me? Your blood is so hot anyone can see? Whoa-oh baby, wontcha get up and dance? Your blood is glowin' wontcha gimme a chance? Oooh! Oooh! Oooh Baaaby! Your blood is glowin' wontcha gimme a chance? Baaaaaaby! WHY? (clap hands) WHY? (clap hands) WHY? (Clap hands) Baby you're sizzling I can feel the heat Oh, come on dance, oh, baby move your feet Whoa-oh baby, wontcha gimme a chance? Your blood is burning for a red-hot romance! (SNORT)

Right. Can't do anything until Thursday, so enjoy next week off work. Lots of things stacked up to do.

Thank you. How are you getting along? Nearly time for NaNo 2009 and although we have left you with a cosy litter of kits in a far away castle, we still think of you!

| Given that 99% of the responses will be "oooo, Edward is the greatest vampire ever, eeee, so sparkly!" I think that qualifies you as an intellectual. Rocambole

| I think that would be excellent for starters, especially that last one - but you can talk about your book...that's why it would be useful for you to get on it if you can... |
