I am looking for a fictional book that takes place in Wisconsin(town of Oshkosh is mentioned) there are about 4 or 5 books in the series, but I remember the first the best. The husband worked as a logger during the winter(this book takes place during the winter). He comes home on weekends only. the wife is left to take care of the homestead(including a few young children, and animals. She takes in the school teacher to board. The teacher is kind, and eats raw onion sandwiches. the wife washes the teacher's white blouse and stains it with blueing ruining it. This is a story of forgiveness and acceptance. Definitely a Christian theme to it.

So far the only series I can find is by Anne Pellowski; it starts with The First Farm in the Valley, about the Winding Valley Farm, and I think there are about 5 books in the series. It does take place on a farm in early Wisconsin days, so it's a possibility.

The Anne Pellowski books all have a little girl as the main character, so I don't know if they quite fit.

thanks for your idea, but it not that series. Please keep trying, this is driving me nuts. I remember in the first book, she often had bouts of bitterness about handling all the chores while he went away for the week in the lumber camp.
