Zenda:
Many of those old westerns, especially those by popular authors (Raine, Rumford, etc) went through many printings. In the thirties, forties, and early fifties paperbacks were smaller, especially their longest dimension (the height of the cover). Between the late fifties and the mid sixties all of the publishers went to the taller format we see today. Do you remember if your book was "old form" or "new form?" The reason I ask is that our largest local used bookstore recently bought a collection of old pbs, including quite a few mysteries and westerns. I bought some of the old Dell "map-backs" including, I believe, several by Raine. They are now boxed and in storage, awaiting new shelving, but I'll dig through them if you think that what you are seeking is that old. RocSci |
