I am trying to remember the author and title of a book my husband read from the libary in the early 1980's about moving to the country.I think the book may have been published in the 70's.

The basic storyline is about a society girl who fed up with the city life rents a run down cottage in either the welsh or gloustershire countryside and describes how she gets on without basic ammenities growing her own food making a compost heap, doing up the cottage etc.. Its similar to hovel in the hills but less lyrical!!

any help most appreciated as I would like to get it for him for christmas
